Stewardship Season

Stewardship Season

We are in the midst of stewardship season. I think it is only fitting that this occurs in the month of November. With Thanksgiving next week, our hearts should be focused on what we are thankful for in life. Think about all that God has blessed you with in life. It is pretty amazing all that God has blessed us with. Yet, too often we are focused on what God hasn’t “given” us. We always want more, hence the title of the sermon series we are engaged in this month, “Enough.” God has given most of us more than enough, and yet we often squander it. We need to refocus our energies around our finances. As was mentioned in a Bible study, this becomes counter-cultural especially as we enter the Christmas season where we are inundated with consumerism. More stuff in your life will not make you happy, at least not in the long run. Good relationships will, however. Relationships with family, friends, church, and God will give you true Joy.

This stewardship season I want us to be thinking about our priorities in life, and then figure out where God and church are placed in those priorities. Next Sunday you will be asked to pledge for 2019 and we will bless those commitments as part of our worship. This Sunday, please pick up your third quarter giving statements, which will include a pledge card. All the others will be mailed on Monday.
