The Christian Family

By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.
Galatians 5: 22-23

Greetings in the Name of Christ!

Sunday we will celebrate Ascension Sunday in the church and recognize the Christian family.  Many will honor their mother, foster mother, step-mother, or mother-in-law.  I believe the call of the day is to honor all women who have impacted our lives.  There have been many for which I give thanks.  Some of those who have impacted my life come quickly to mind.  Other women have aided me along my journey in short or simple ways and get overlooked if I do not intentionally take the time to reflect.  Many women from scripture or history are a gift that might call us to remember and give thanks.

Using the above scripture, I invite you to reflect on women who have journeyed with you, even if only for a short time or whether in the flesh or through a story passed down through history.  Name the fruit of the Spirit each shared.  Perhaps you can write their names and story in a journal.  Lift them in prayer.  If the women is still living, write them a short note of thanksgiving for the blessing your received.

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.  And be thankful. (Colossians 3:15)

In Christ’s Light and Love,

Pastor Pat
