Advent and Anticipation

Advent and Anticipation

Advent is a season of preparation and waiting. The proverb of “good things come to those who wait” is never more appropriate than during this season. The anticipation builds until Christmas Eve when we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the beginning of a new way of doing things. We welcome the savior into the world. In a world of immediate gratification, we should let the anticipation build, so we can feel the joy of Christmas. With all that said, I am not completely stingy on Christmas music in Advent. There is only one song that I like to hold back for Christmas Eve, and that is “Silent Night.”

In the newsletter and at men’s group I referenced a mainstream song that I like to listen to during the Christmas season as I prepare my heart and soul for Christmas. The song is Better Days by the Goo Goo Dolls, which was a popular band from the late 90’s and early 00’s. The music video can be found here. In Jesus’ coming we find better days, but only if you are the light of Christ in the world.
