Reflections from the Beach – Part 3

For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

– Isaiah 41:13

Salt water is the best place to help folks learn how to swim.  The salt aids in keeping us afloat.  If only we could relax and trust the water to hold us.  It is so easy once you experience it, understand it, and trust it.

This experience of trusting and finding we are held up as we surrender in the water is a lot like our faith.  Sometimes it is so difficult to trust God, especially in the midst of struggles.  What do you mean “Relax and let God?!?!?!?!”  But we can remember our lessons from the water, the worst thing you can do is tense up!!  You end up sinking.

Hopefully, you will build your relationship up with God in the good, happy, and uneventful times, so that you can experience and know you can trust God.  Then when the difficulties come; you can lean into God and find that God is holding you and you have no reason to be afraid.
